Another Ride!!

Excellent news and great opportunity!

 For 53 years the Mission Rangers Saddle Club has been sponsoring a ride near Charlo on the National Bison Range 35 miles north of Missoula. The Bison Range is only open to horses one day a year which is for this ride. This year it will be held on June 3^rd and costs $25.00 which includes a meal and free camping (no hookups or amenities) next to the Bison Range if needed. AQHA and MQHA are partnering up with them. Riders who enjoy the AQHA rides and who have their "Ride Passports" can come to this ride and earn points. This would be a special opportunity because of the location. RIDE 2006

This is the 10th year for the American Quarter Horse Association Ride Program and nice weather, beautiful country and more than 90 people on horseback combined to make the 2006 Montana Quarter Horse Association trail ride one of the most successful rides in the state in recent years.

Riders from eight states and Canada gathered at the Staubach Creek Ranch near Winston, owned by Jeff and Marie Hoeffner, for the three-day event held June 23-25. After a short ride on the ranch Friday afternoon and some music and cowboy poetry around the campfire that evening, the main ride was held on Saturday. About 30 riders went on the three-hour ride while the other riders were split into two groups for a five-hour ride into the Elkhorn Mountains.

Saturday evening more than 130 people were on hand for a pitchfork fondue steak dinner followed by an auction, with Tex Pate as the auctioneer, and more music. The auction brought in more than $1,600, most of which will be divided among the Eagle Mount therapeutic riding programs in Bozeman, Great Falls and Helena.

In addition to a lot of Montanans, the event attracted riders from Colorado, Idaho, New Jersey, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Texas and Wyoming as well as Alberta, Canada.
