Welcome to the Montana Quarter Horse Association

We promote the use of the American Quarter Horse in Montana in a variety of ways, we provide beneficial services for our members, which enhances and encourages Quarter Horse ownership and participation.

The Montana Quarter Horse Association began in 1955 with a "need and a desire." As one of the founders, Nancy Dear, said "we had good Quarter Horses in the state and we needed a place to show them."

The founders of the fledgling organization were Doug and Nancy Dear, Duke Gustafson, Paul Ringling, Hank Wilson, and Bud Fogland. They involved some of the best people in the state and got them committed.

Since that time, many things have changed. However, one thing remains constant:

Montana has great Quarter Horses and marvelous Quarter Horse people of all ages!

We salute the past while we shape our future.
